Hi, my cpu fan revs up at times when surfing the net or a particular program is running. Does anyone know how the correct this problem or is it inherit in this machine? I have a D5039. Thanks. Nate

Unless I miss my guess there is no way to stop that as it is built into the machine. My eMachines T5020 has the fan over the CPU and as you put a higher demand on the cpu the faster the fan runs to help disipate the heat created.

You may find there is a bios setting to tame things, but I have three fans all with a life of their own. The PSU, the graphics card and the CPU. Best you can do is get quiet ones really. Oh, and clean them! Smile

I was able to turn off my "cool n'quiet" feature through my BIOS (at least eMachines lets me do that Rolling Eyes ) which made my CPU fan run at one speed at all times. Check out your BIOS and see what you can find.

My computer was doing this a lot more than i thought that it should have been doing, especially when just browsing the internet.
Also, my cpu was running a little hot.

So i cleaned all of the vents, fans, cpu in fact i carefully cleaned all of the dust from inside the case and what a difference, fans are completely silent now and cpu is running at around 37-40 C

I have th e same model emachines and the same noisy fan. I cleaned it too and it roars like a freight train anyway, always has. Just the nature of the beast I guess. As soon as the processor goes to work the fan goes into panic mode.

Like system 7 said, getting a quieter one will really make a difference. My fan never revved up accept when I started the machine but even when it was going slow and "quiet", I could hear it over the other fans. So I got an Arctic Cooling heatsink and the fan that it came with is wonderful. When I turn my computer on it revves up like it always does but with the AC fan, I don't even hear it rev up!

The CPU fan in this revs up when I turn it on, then 10 seconds later the emachines logo comes up on the screen and the fan slows down rapidly down to a quieter level. Because the PC is under the desk, I have to listen hard and have no ambient background noises to hear the CPU fan running. When it was on the desk, I thought it was quite noisy. Shocked I can still hear it rev up a little when I do some tasks but they don't bother me now the PC is on the floor. Smile
